• Post-Doctoral Researcher (2 Years): We are searching for a post-doctoral researcher to begin work in early 2024 at Bocconi University in Milan with Zachary Parolin at the ExpPov Research Lab. The researcher would contribute to a project on "Living and working conditions in the digital economy in Italy and the European Union" funded through the PRIN PNRR grant. The project also includes the opportunity to collaborate with Dario Guarascio at Sapienza University of Rome and Valeria Cirillo at Bari University. The post-doctoral research position should start sometime in early 2024 and runs through November 2025. 

• Who should apply? The candidate should have recently completed, or be in the process of completing, a PhD in economics, sociology, social policy, political science, or a related field, and should have strong interest in studying labour market inequalities in the European Union. Applications of all nationalities and backgrounds are welcome and encouraged to apply. We particularly welcome applications from groups that are underrepresented in the social sciences.

• Why join our research lab? The ExpPov Research Lab at Bocconi University is a team of around 10 researchers working together on topics related to poverty, inequality, and policy analysis. We aim to provide a welcoming and collaborative research community that brings together researchers from across the social sciences. ExpPov is an ERC-funded project based within the DONDENA Research Center at Bocconi University.

• FAQs:

  •  "Can I work on my own research while contributing to the PRIN project?" Yes, though the selected post-doc should contribute to the project on living and working conditions in the digital economy, there is also time to continue one's own research agenda, or to pursue new studies with other members of the ExpPov team.

  • "How does this project compare to other PRIN PNRR projects?" Our post-doctoral vacancy is, to our knowledge, the highest-paying PRIN post-doc position available this year. Beyond the compensation, the selected post-doctoral researcher will be part of a vibrant research team with the ExpPov lab at Bocconi.

Types of Vacancies

ExpPov currently offers three types of positions:

Post-Doctoral Researchers: Multi-year positions available to junior researchers who have recently completed, or will soon complete, their PhD in a field related to economics, social policy, sociology, political science, or similar. The recruitment process for Post-Doctoral Researchers occurs once per year. Potential applicants interested in pursuing future Post-Doctoral Researcher positions are encouraged to complete a short Expression of Interest (see below) to be notified of future opportunities.

Research Fellows: Paid positions primarily available for Bocconi students pursuing a Master degree or PhD, but also available to non-Bocconi researchers and Bachelor-level students in some circumstances. The recruitment process for Research Fellows occurs once or twice per year. Potential applicants interested in pursuing future Research Fellow positions are encouraged to complete a short Expression of Interest (see below) to be notified of future opportunities.

Research Affiliates: Available to Bocconi students pursuing a Bachelor or Master degree and who would like to gain research experience on a specific project, either for professional development purposes or for fulfillment of the extra-curricular internship. Potential applicants interested in pursuing Research Affiliate positions are encouraged to complete a short Expression of Interest (see below) to be notified of future opportunities.
